Managing your startup programs in Windows

Solution Microsoft Windows includes a program called MSCONFIG to help you manage startup items. However, I find that it's very basic and doesn't provide enough in the way of startup management features.

I recommend Mike Lin's StartUp Control Panel. You can get it at Mike's website http://www.mlin.net it provides better management options including the ability to delete dead startup items. (Though you can retrieve them up to a certain point.) It comes in two versions a control panel applet that can be access from the Windows Control Panel, or as a standalone program that you can run even from a USB flash drive.
